With intention and path rising up to meet us. We have 3 ETSY shops, i have a corporate job, we do festivals, take care of a ton of animals, Ebay etc.... Recently the most wonderful thing happened....I got laid off, I know I know, sounds crazy, a well paying corporate job that I did not hate. It was sucking the life out of me all the same. Without boring you with a lot of information you probably dont want, like the Universe aligning, and a new doorway opening, this is what I needed. I needed to be released so i could start this new chapter in my life our lives with 100% dedication and abandon.
Steve has turned one of our outbuildings into a studio. We are kicking the creativeness, and treasure hunting into high gear around here, and want you to be first to see our offerings. Like the antique ship hatch door, that happen to sell before we could show you. But we want you to witness our journey, and connect with like minds, and creative energies.
A simple, meaningful, creative lives. We are not doing high art, and do not claim to be any accomplished or even trained artist. We are claiming a choice to be passionate, and creative, to only do what has meaning to us. Anything you see Steve do especially is created from inspiration, or connection to an energy, it could be nostalgia, it could be quantum physics, ancient peoples etc....
My inspiration which at this point is for my own viewing comes from meditation, journey, and intuition.
We hope you join us, and that you share with us as well. We would love to know what you are working on. How you have broken the grip of societal norms? and what your dreams are for a life that you get to choose. This is a Sioux Indian Tribute piece he is working on, inspired by a book of Ancient Peoples of America. Wonderful drawings on deer skin, inspired him to pay tribute in his own way. I will show you when it is complete.

Sideshow Freak Show and where in the hell have we been
We have been missing on the blog for a while. Last you saw Steve was working fast and furious on some of his mixed media art, very mysterious. We were in overdrive in these parts, preparing for a busy season of shows like Warrenton, Roundtop etc.... And now to unveil. He sold the paper mache heads, but the banners are awesome. What does Steve have to say about these over the top sideshow banner, he pulled out of his,,,,eccentric brain.
Hand painted by me, this large one of a kind circus side show banner I called Human Wonders. Actual size is 5' 9" x 8' 9". Painted on a 7 oz. Canvas. I used a variety of paints and a bit of permanent marker to create the design. I tried to make it in the style of the circus side show banners of the 1920's to the 1940's. I even tried to make it look worn, or old. This banner has three different acts or attraction featured: the fighting human skeleton, the sword swallower, and the half man / half woman. This is an original piece although I used certain images or persons for the inspiration. For example, there was a fighting thin man in the 1920's named Abernathy at coney island. He supposedly only weighed 38 lbs. Although they are waterproof as far as the color staying fast, it was made to be displayed indoors and not to be hung for long periods outdoors. Grommets around the edges allow for easy hanging. Perfect for the game room, man cave or kids room. I will be listing some other banners I have painted but they are all one offs and will not be done again. Light weight, can be rolled up or folded. Also open to doing custom banners of the same style with different sizes or subject matter. Compare the size, artwork, and the price to other similar original hand painted banners.
Steve is completely open to custom banners. These would look great in a loft.
You can find them on our Etsy Shop.

New Beauties
I have found some pretty great finds lately, at a great price. I love the hunt. I love finding new homes for our treasures. I love nothing more than finding something in a barn, or a forgotten attic, or on a thrift store shelf that is a true lovely treasure. I feel so good when we clean it, and admire it, and send it off to its new home, all around the world. I think it is very cool when a forgotten piece goes to someone who is going to display it proudly or use it as intended. My recent finds arent terribly old, but I think they are cool and should find their way into the Stillhouse shop very soon. Jonathan Adler Vase, i actually collect white pottery so I snatched this one up from a thrift store shelf, and did not look at the label until I got home, I was pretty shocked, and should of known it was Jonathan Adler. And these gorgeous little Bohemian Czech glass cordials. Really lovely pieces.

The skinny
We have added a few new things to the shop. Steve does a junk antique show every year, and it is a huge deal. It is the Warrenton Roundtop Antiques Week. It basically covers three towns, and it is a (3) week show. It is massive, 1000's of vendors, and several 1000's of customers. It is a unique experience. This year he is taking a huge art show he is preparing, he has been busily working on his mixed media and paper mache pieces, and they are incredible. Some beautiful, and thought provoking, and some crazy clowns, that may be a little nightmare provoking... We are in creative over drive over here, as the show in toward the end of March. We want to have art and jewelry projects finished soon, and we will show you when we have more complete pieces.
I am determined and making myself accountable for my health, I have been giving myself a free ride food wise, and I am okay with that, no guilt, as I usually do, but this year will hold a lot of potential for fun, adventure and some soul stirring experiences. I think being more physically fit will help me achieve and enjoy those adventures a lot more. I have never followed a published diet plan, and I generally try to eat healthy, but the kicking my on ass needs to start now. I will follow the South Beach Diet, basically lean meats, veggies, to get myself away from my carb addiction. I am not sure you really care about such things, but i thought posting it here, and making myself follow up and be accountable in this way would just give more weight to my intention. I am 156 pounds right now, and will start the diet on Monday the 11. Why am i waiting, well I just turned 48 yesterday and it is the weekend, but no more excuses after Monday. I will keep you posted on my progress, you can just ignore...
Have you had success on the South Beach Diet, would love to hear? It seems like the most reasonable diet for health concerns.
Maybe if I can lose the 20-25 pounds i would like to lose I can go to the Hotter than Hell 100 with Steve, we will see, hmmm.

Art and Cupcakes
Steve has been working over time on the paper mache and mixed media. He has about 4 projects going on right now. You saw the start of one on the last post. This is where he is with that one. He will soon get paint, and really come alive. And damn Steve he has become a baking fool, with his cakes and cupcakes, contributing to my winter gut....

Dancing Barefoot
Great night, slow dancing barefoot with this man of mine to some Texas Red Dirt in our living room (that is the only place I dance) But we were just takin' a break from a little creativity. What could he be working on, hmmm.... Just a little mixed media, paper mache with a little upcycling, recycling action. He is actually feeling inspired by vintage Mardi Gras Mask. I will post when he is finished, it will be awesome, I dont know how he takes paper and just stuff, and turns it in to impressive art... The last mask is actually mine, I have an idea for that one, in the form of perhaps a 3 dimensional vision board, perhaps. What are you working on and feeling inspired by?
